HJK: On the pitch and on digital screens

HJK: On the pitch and on digital screens

Background

HJK wanted to bring the pulse of home games and match moments to everyone in the city — in real time, even outside Bolt Arena. The goal was to make Outshine’s digital screens come alive with the events of each home game: When’s the next match? Who are we playing today? Who’s in the lineup? And at the crucial moment: Who scored?

Execution

At the heart of the execution are Outshine’s data-driven digital screens, which display live match information and highlights — both on the four screens outside Bolt Arena and on selected screens across downtown Helsinki. Throughout the season, city dwellers have followed the action as it unfolds:

• Match countdown: minutes and seconds until kickoff
• Lineup: who’s taking the field today
• Live score: real-time match status
• Goal scorers: names shown instantly after a goal
• Post-match: final score and game-day vibes

Outshine’s technology ensures that all data updates automatically and in real time from the Finnish FA’s database — fast and at the right moment, just like on the pitch.

Result

The screens combined motion graphics, real-time information, immersive experiences, and a sense of community in a completely new way — bringing the heartbeat of Bolt Arena into the very core of the city. The collaboration between Outshine and HJK shows how sports, technology, and urban space can come together — and light up the city in the rhythm of match day.

“The real-time nature of digital screens, their easy adaptability, and the future potential for motion graphics and interactive content open up entirely new possibilities — not just for HJK, but for Bolt Arena as a whole,” says Juho Hirvonen, HJK’s Director of Communications and Marketing.
